In psychology today we watched a really cool documentary called America The Beautiful.  It basically showed how the media portrays beauty, and how people go to extreme lengths just to obtain it.  How sad is it that 12 year olds are calling themselves ‘fat’ and ‘ugly’ just because they don’t look like models they see in magazines?  We can blame the media, but are we going to do anything about it? People will still buy those magazines with the living skeletons on it, still buy cosmetic products to ‘enhance’ themselves, and still go through surgery to sculpt their bodies to ‘perfection’.  The documentary even showed this poor lady who got fired because she refused to wear makeup to work.  So what if she didn’t wear the lipstick?  Why can’t natural beauty be accepted everywhere?  It’s a sad, sad vicious cycle.
